University of Life
This section of my blog is dedicated to the random thoughts and lessons that life has taught me. One of my favourite quotes from my Dad is "I got my education from the University of Life."

The importance of a Tribe
Empowering each other empowers ourselves “Who does she think she is?”, “What right does she have?”, “Who put her in charge?”. These are common sentences that I have heard over time when speaking with other women about other successful women. These comments need to change. They need to be replaced with “How can I become as confident?” and “Why is her success bothering me so much?”. I have a woman on the edge of my circle who seems to never be happy about other women’s success. She often questions why someone is making the choices they are, why someone like myself has any gaunt to try something new, to be…

Day 55, It's been a while
I don’t know about you, but my mind has been racing with ideas lately. I have started dreaming and writing down a few business ideas, I have begun another course, and I have been doing some transformations around the house since we will not be travelling for what I feel is a while. Finally spending money on doors and floors! If you follow me, you know that I would rather spend our money on travel than house items. I do hope that we are able to travel within the borders of Canada this year and that a week-long jaunt to the East Coast can happen! BUT that is all to…

Connections
Today was a pretty normal day. Coffee, yoga, some computer work. And then two things happened. One was a sexual comment via a social media message which triggered some pretty strong feelings. This was the first time for me, and I went into total mom mode. Once I was finished telling this man that his comment was rude and inappropriate, he apologized. I don’t understand the power people “believe” they will feel making these comments to people. I say believe because it should not be power at all, but a demonstration of their poor character. I understand why some women embrace the attention of that kind, that loneliness brings a…

Fireweed
Day 27 / Day 1 This morning I woke at 5:15 am. My mind racing. Filled with questions and ideas. I grabbed my phone to note some of them down. I start the mindless scrolling through my social feeds. Sam whispers “you ok?” and to go back to sleep. I finally get up with the sun and climb into the hot tub outside. For reasons unexplained, the temperature is only 91 F. Cool for the tub. The sky is grey and I sink into the water trying to keep warm. It snows gently. The red buds on the trees are popping against the grey backdrop. It is beautiful actually. The…

April 6, 2020
We are all home either working or doing school online. Day one for online schooling for the kids. They are in high school and have done some of this type of online schooling before, but not like this. Not where they are working on figuring out time management as well. Sorting out their week, due dates and where they should be in their course content. It is a big responsibility for them and I am trying to encourage them to figure it out, make a plan, stay organized and yet, don’t stress. This is a hard time for us all. We are all trying to figure it out! I had…
